I Am

57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” 59 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
John 8:57-59

I Am
The Jews thought Jesus’ words were impossible. How could a man not yet fifty claim to have seen Abraham? But Jesus revealed far more: He is not merely another prophet or teacher; He is the eternal “I AM.” This is the same Lord who spoke to Moses from the burning bush, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. His claim is no metaphor, He is God in the flesh. The world stumbles over such words. To them, Jesus seems arrogant or blasphemous. Yet this is the very truth that brings us salvation. The eternal Son entered time, took on flesh, and mounted the cross. There He bore our sin, though He Himself is before all things. His death was not weakness but divine power, for the “I AM” laid down His life to give us life. In Christ crucified, the eternal God is your Savior, yesterday, today, and forever.
