The Father Glorified in the Son’s Hour

27 “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”

The Father Glorified in the Son’s Hour
As Jesus stands on the brink of His suffering, His soul is troubled. Yet rather than fleeing the hour of the cross, He embraces it. The voice from heaven confirms what human ears often resist, the glory of God is revealed not in dazzling power, but in the humiliation of the Son. The Father is glorified in the Son’s obedience unto death. What appears to the world as defeat is, in truth, the triumph of divine love. The cross is the moment when heaven’s glory meets earth’s need, when sin is judged and mercy is poured out. The Father’s voice affirms that this hour is not random suffering but the fulfillment of His saving will. When our hearts are troubled, we look to Christ crucified. There, the Father has spoken once for all: His glory is our salvation, and His Son’s cross our eternal peace.
