The Word Before All Worlds

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:1-3

The Word Before All Worlds
Before anything was, the Word was. Not a created thing, but true God, eternal, unchanging, and divine. John points us to Jesus, the eternal Word who is both with God and is God. Through Him, all things came into being. Jesus is not a lesser being or a mere messenger; He is the Creator Himself, the second Person of the Trinity. This same Word who formed the heavens entered His own creation in the flesh, not to condemn, but to redeem. He took on our human nature to go to the cross, where the Creator bore the punishment for the creature. In Jesus, God speaks His final Word over sin and death: It is finished. In a world that tries to remake truth, we rest in the eternal Word made flesh. Jesus speaks life into our death and light into our darkness. And His Word endures forever.
