Running with Horses
5 “If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you,
how will you compete with horses?
And if in a safe land you are so trusting,
what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
6 For even your brothers and the house of your father,
even they have dealt treacherously with you;
they are in full cry after you;
do not believe them,
though they speak friendly words to you.”

Running with Horses
We would trust in the things of this world and life. We fear and love things and people and are disappointed when they fail and betray. The Lord bids us to fear, love, and trust in him alone. All other things fail to follow through. The things we end up fearing and trusting are the things that we have made into gods in our life. The things made with human hands gain authority over us by our own doing. The wrath of God is kindled against us. He will not share us with anyone else. He is a jealous God and he punishes. The only way to break free from his wrath and to be protected from his anger is Jesus. Jesus must cover us. He must trust only in Jesus and his Word. The promises are true. The power is great. He covers you in his righteousness and makes you pleasing to God the Father. With Jesus we run faster than the horses.
