Every Hair Numbered
26 “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

Every Hair Numbered
There are a lot of things in this life that we fear. Yet, there is not a one that we should actually fear. We do not trust in God as we should. We do not love God as we should. The Gospel transforms us for this. The Lord God is the only one that we should fear. He alone can destroy both body and soul. But God delights in you. He has numbered your hairs, not because he is bored, but because he delights in you. You are his beloved. Fear not, therefore! You are loved greatly by your God. Jesus sheds his blood for you. God gives his Son to the death of the cross to have you. Your heart is filled with his Holy Spirit. You are his own children. What is in our hearts comes forth and is confessed with the mouth. Thanks be to God for his visitation among us!
