It All Points to Christ

It All Points to Christ
Adam and Eve and their children believed in [Christ] because they possessed the promise of the woman's Seed, who would bruise the serpent's head (Genesis 3:15). That is what Adam preached; he also received numerous signs which impelled and encouraged him to look to Christ. Moses' Law, Baptism, sacrifice, kingdom, and priesthood were to endure but a short time, not permanently. For how long? Until the woman's Seed should appear. And all who understood this were saved, as, for example, the patriarchs. Similarly, we today also preach, teach, baptize, and have our government. None of this has any permanency; but it all points us to Christ who became incarnate and for whom we must wait and hope. These are only mementos and monitors. Thus Christ remains our Savior in the future and in the present. The little children who marched in Christ's van sang their hosannas, just as the patriarchs had done; we, who with the whole world follow in His train, sing the same song. The only difference is that they preceded Christ and we follow Him. Whatever was ordained was all focused on Christ. Therefore Christ was this Rock, for He was to come from this nation. They and we share the same faith . . ..
