Jesus' True Deity

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
JOHN 1:14

Jesus' True Deity
Here [John] expresses who the Word is, of whom he and Moses have spoken—namely, the only Son of God, who has all the glory that the Father has. Therefore, he calls Him the only, the only-begotten, so as to distinguish Him from all the children of God, who are not natural children as this one is. His true deity is shown in this way; for if He were not God, He could not be called the only-begotten Son compared to the others. This is as much as saying that He and no other is God's Son. This cannot be said of angels and saints, for none of them is God's Son but are all brothers and created creatures, children [of God] adopted by grace, not born by nature.
