God’s Hand
But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

God’s Hand
It seems to many when they read this portion of Job that God is inflicting him with all manner of calamity in order to satisfy His own pride. This could not be further from the truth. God does not allow the devil to inflict misery and tragedy upon Job for His own amusement or pride, but to show Satan, and us, that no matter what the devil tries he cannot steal a child of God from His hand.
This should give all Christians suffering the effect of a fallen and sinful world great comfort. Yes, sin, death, and the devil are all around and constantly are attempting to snatch you form God’s hand, but they cannot. You rest secured in His hands. So much so that He would send His Son here in the flesh to bear your sins. It was Christ who would willing lay upon the cross with His arms outstretched to have His hands pierced by a Roman nail. It would be those same scared hands which would give comfort to the disciples in the upper room after His resurrection. It is the same hands which now hold and guide you in all troubles and tribulations. And it will be the same hands which gather you to Him on your last day, to be brought into eternity. In God’s hands there is no fear, for it is in His hand you rest secured.
