A Day Like Any Other
Every day is a blessing. This should not be news to the Christian. We know that all we have, all of our good fortune and prosperity, all our happiness and comfort, all physical and material blessings come from God. Not because we have deserved them or because we prayed the right prayer and made God respond, but simply because God is loving and merciful and cares for His creation. We do well to remember this and take each day for the blessing it is.
As Christians we also know we live in a broken and sinful world and that the effects of living in such a world all to often fall upon us. We go to bed healthy and wake up sick. We drive to work and are in an accident. Our phone rings and we get the news of a death in the family. We never know what each day brings, good or bad, but what we do know is that each day we are given is one to be cherished. It is one in which we have an opportunity to share God’s love with all the people He places in our lives. It is a day in which we can tell the Good News of Christ crucified.
