Who Will Answer You?

“Call now; is there anyone who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?

Who Will Answer You?
“You reap what you sow.” We often like this idea.  We see it as justice. Do bad things and bad things are done to you. Do good things and good things come your way.  This is Eliphaz’s understanding of God.  The great karmic debt collector.  This is why he taunts Job, asking “…is there anyone who will answer you?”  In Eliphaz’s mind the answer is no, there is not, because of how bad your sins have been.  The devil likes to convince us of this as well.  He whispers into our ears, “What you did was so bad it is unforgivable.  God will never let this go.  There is no way you can be forgiven.”  And in turn God answers, “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” (Hebrews 8:12) “And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) “…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) So who will answer your cry of repentance? Christ did! On the cross, there with your sins He gave His life. In faith we call out for forgiveness. And in love Christ answers you, “It is finished!” (Luke 19:30)
