A Blameless Man
“Behold, God will not reject a blameless man, nor take the hand of evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting. Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked will be no more.”
Job 8:20-22

A Blameless Man
Bildad ends his speech to Job with these final words, “God will not reject a blameless man.” And as Christian’s we should take comfort in this. Not because we can ever be blameless, for “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me” (Psalm 51:5), but because the One who is in fact blameless has given you His righteousness. Christ, the One whom God the Father said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” lived a perfect and blameless life for you. He fulfilled the Law perfectly where you could not. He took upon Himself the sins of the world, your sins, so you would not have to stand before God as a poor miserable sinner, but instead as a redeemed child of God clothed in Christ’s righteousness. Yes, God does not indeed reject the Blameless Man, and that Blameless Man died upon a cross for you. That Blameless Man reconciled you to the Father. That Blameless Man defeated sin, death, and the devil, for you. Therefore, we can now “call upon [Him] in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.”
