Constellations

[W]ho made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the chambers of the south; who does great things beyond searching out, and marvelous things beyond number.

Constellations
Job speaks of the ancient constellations which guided the earliest of travelers though the oceans of sand in the deserts and the featureless waters of the open sea. And from the beginning God has guided His people through the treacherous nights by the light of His stars.  He “does great things beyond searching out, and marvelous things beyond number” so that His people will know that He is their God.  And when it came time for God to humble Himself and become like us in every way, except without sin, He used a star to guide the wise men to His doorstep.  And in this state of humility God the Son, “being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:8). Then on Calvary, the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, died, and the star which lights our world went dark, as all of creation mourned the death of God.  Yet the grave could not hold Him, and Light of the world, broke though once again.  Our Bright Morning Star still shine in the heart of the faithful. “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star” (Revelation 22:16).
