I Am Blameless
I am blameless; I regard not myself; I loathe my life. It is all one; therefore I say, ‘He destroys both the blameless and the wicked.’
Job 9:21-22

I Am Blameless
“I am blameless.” These are the words of a desperate man under an enormous amount of pain and suffering. And though we do not uphold Job's assertion that he is blameless, we can sympathize with his plight. We should not be too quick to blame Job for his impious words, for how often have we spoken a reckless or thoughtless word against God, and in much less sever circumstances. We know the truth, none of us are blameless. We all deserve punishment for our transgressions. And so it would be, if not for the one truly blameless Man, Jesus. For out of a sheer abundance of love, did God sent His only Son, His only blameless Son, to die in our stead. And Christ did it all without accusations of injustice or neglect towards the Father. Our Savior carried our blame and made atonement for it to the Father. So in this way Job is right when he says, “He destroys both the blameless and the wicked.” The wicked are destroyed in the end and the only blameless Man was also destroyed in death, but three days later He defeated that death and reigns victorious forevermore.
