Debt Collector

Therefore, hear me, you men of understanding: far be it from God that he should do wickedness, and from the Almighty that he should do wrong. For according to the work of a man he will repay him, and according to his ways he will make it befall him.
Job 34:10–11

Debt Collector
“You reap what you sow” is a common expression which even St. Paul writes in Galatians 6:8. It is the idea that if you do bad things then bad things will be done to you, and likewise with acts of charity and good.  And when we view God in this light only, we reduce Him to a cosmic debt collector, interested only in balancing the scales of justice in the universe.  But to truly understand this idea we must understand the God of the Bible. Not the god of our own making.  It is very true that our evil acts are the cause of our loss of life and salvation. Yet the reverse is not true. Our good works do not save us.  They are simply the outcomes and proofs of our salvation which has already been won for us by Christ. By grace faith is given to know Him as our Savior. And it is in the grace filled life where we can do God pleasing works, not for salvation but in response to it. And thanks be to God that He has come to us and given us life in His Son Jesus Christ.  For our debt was collect, it was just paid by Jesus. On the cross of Calvary, the debt was cleared, paid in full for the whole world.
