A Return to Dust

If he should set his heart to it and gather to himself his spirit and his breath, all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust.
Job 34:14–15

A Return to Dust
We don’t understand the ways of God, at least not always.  Our sinful thoughts and desires cloud our understanding which makes us doubt God’s love and care for us.  The devil and the world join in convincing us of this as well.  However, if we were to ever stop and think about all which God does for us, we would never doubt His love and care.  These verses point this out clearly.  If God were to take His Spirit and breath from us, we would quickly perish and fade into dust.  Yet we are still here, we have not ceased to exist and neither has God’s love for His creation. In fact, all of His creation is dependent upon His love and care.  Though we don’t always understand the pain and suffering we go through, we must remember that God’s ways and His plans are for a purpose and in His wisdom, which is far greater than our, He cares for us far beyond our understanding.  Simply look to the cross for proof of this.  We neither can earn, nor do we deserve salvation, yet in His love for His creation God sent His only Son to die in our place so that salvation might be ours. So that even if we die and our bodies return to dust, they will, on the last day, be made perfect again. Reunited in body and soul because of what God has done for us in Christ. Incomprehensible, yet true.
