No False Word

For truly my words are not false; one who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

No False Word
We like to believe ourselves trustworthy, that our word is our bond. We expect others to not question our honesty when we speak yet we are not always as generous to others.  We are quick to judge and call in to question the validity of other’s words. If we are honest with ourselves, we would come to the realization that we lie and cheat and are dishonest more than we would like to admit.  We tell “white” lies thinking thy ear not hurting anyone. We withhold information for our advantage and call it shrewd. The Eighth Commandment is far too often forgotten in our lives.  However, God’s Word can be trusted. In the Scriptures we have the truth and not one false word is spoken in it.  We can rest assured that when God speaks His Words are pure and honest and for good.  For His Word, the Word made flesh (John 1), we find the truth. The Truth which sets us free. Christ Jesus comes into our world to turn everything upside down. Our notions of truth are upended by His divine truth. He has called us out of the darkness into His glorious light to walk in His truth. His Word leads us to gaze upon the cross and the empty tomb and know the truth of our salvation.  And though the devil, the world, and our own sinful flesh have nothing but false words to give us when it comes to Jesus and our salvation, The infallible Word of God stands. As Christ Himself tells is, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32).
