The Woes--The Full
The cross is a great reversal. What we expect is turned on its nose. Full rejoice now, but in the resurrection, they will be hungry. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied in the resurrection. Kings will be brought low; the low will be exalted. The cross changes everything. Those who do not know the cross have their own god and that god is their own belly. They feed and tend that god and their consolation and comfort is in the earthly things that fade away. But with Jesus we have a lasting consolation. He fills and satisfies to all eternity. He is the Bread of Heaven that has come down from the Father’s hand to tend to your every need. Your sins are forgiven in this Jesus. You have life and salvation in him.
