The Woes—The Laughing
One of the marks of the Christian life is to suffer. We walk in the valley of the shadow of death. We are attacked on every side by the enemies of God. The people of God cry now as they weep over their sin. We cry now because of our repentance. The terror we feel because of our sin coupled with the faith of Jesus’ cross brings forth tears. But those who have turned against God and his Word, have no repentance. Those who laugh in joy over their sins will have that laughter taken from them. Joy at the celebration of sin will be turned to sadness and weeping in the judgment. However, our sadness will be turned to joy in the resurrection. Jesus defeats sin and death for us on his cross. No one will be able to take that joy from us and that joy will never end. The feast of gladness with Jesus is eternal.
