How It Would Happen
And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”

How It Would Happen
The bold confession of Peter began to turn the understanding of the disciples concerning Jesus. The long-awaited for Messiah was finally here. He would right the injustices of God’s people, and the shackles of the oppressors would be loosed, or at least that was the idea many had of the Messiah. A weak and gentle Messiah, one who would suffer and eventually die, was unthinkable. But now that Peter had identified Jesus as the Christ, Jesus would challenge His disciples’ understanding of that role by revealing His impending suffering and death. It is painful to admit that we need a Messiah who would suffer and die for us, to make up for our failures and rebellions. Thankfully, Jesus was willing to be born under the Law, to fulfill all righteousness, and then pay the full price of our redemption on Calvary’s cross. Jesus is the Christ, and in Him is salvation.
