Wise as Children
In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

Wise as Children
The world we live in is advancing in so many ways that even a decade or two ago, we would not have believed it. Artificial intelligence is advancing at such a pace that even those developing it are taken aback. The wisdom and intelligence of the world believes it can find the answer to everything and, in doing so, finally put to rest the idea of God. For many of the wise and learned, God is a fairy tale for little children. Yet the Author and Creator of life says otherwise. Jesus rejoices that we, in fact have received faith as a little child, something the wise and learned mock. With childlike faith, we are more ready for salvation than the worldly wise who, believing themselves wise, have blinded their own eyes to the truth. Jesus cries out in joy and in great delight. And while rejoicing that His disciples have received the gift of life-saving faith, Jesus stresses that He is our only source and mediator of the Gospel revelation. If only we would have the grace to rejoice with Him and to appreciate fully the great privilege that is ours in the Gospel!
