so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord

Eternal Purpose
We all want to belong. Whether it be a club or social group, a team or family, we all have a desire to be amongst those who accept us. We were created to be together as husband and wife, parent and child, and as neighbors. God did not create us to be alone. The devil knows this and, therefore, attempts to isolate us from one another and from our God. But our Lord Jesus Christ broke into His creation in the incarnation to end the division our sin has caused. To end the division between us and our heavenly Father, as well as the division between us and our fellow man. And to do this, Christ took our sins to the cross and died with them. And now, in His Church, He delivers the Means of Grace by which the salvation won on the cross is the salvation received through His means. The very existence of a Church in which Jews and Gentiles, free and slave, man and woman are united stands as a testimony to Christ’s victory over the devil’s divisive schemes. Thank God for His great saving plan in His Son Jesus Christ.
