Children of Light

for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Children of Light
Ever since our first parents rebelled in that garden paradise, we have fought against our old selves. There is a daily battle between our old sinful Adam in us and the new man God created in us through the simple means of water and the Word. Like the Ephesians, we are confronted every day by a world rebelling against God’s way. In our struggle against its temptations, we can rely on Christ’s Word and Spirit to lead us. May our God continue to strengthen us, so that we may speak and act as He desires and walk as children of light. May He replace all foul talk from our mouths with praise for Him and encouragement for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
