A True Confession

And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.

A True Confession
Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do people say I am?” They reply with various answers—John the Baptist, Elijah, or one of the prophets. But then Jesus asks the most crucial question: “But who do you say I am?” Peter answers, “You are the Christ.” This declaration is central to our faith as Christians. Recognizing Jesus as the Christ, the anointed One, is the cornerstone of Christian belief. It is not merely a matter of knowing about Jesus but of confessing Him as Lord and Savior. We understand that this confession is not from our own wisdom but revealed by the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ question invites us to examine our own hearts. Who do we say Jesus is in our daily lives? Do our words and actions reflect our confession that He is the Christ? Let us pray for the courage and clarity to boldly declare Jesus as the Christ in all aspects of our lives. May our faith in Him be evident, not only in words but in the love and grace we show to others.
