Taught By The Spirit

10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:10-16

Taught By The Spirit

The old man, our sinful nature, wants nothing to do with the Spirit of God or the things of the Bible. The old man is repulsed by the Lord Jesus and his work to save us and secure eternal life for you and me. Before we were called by the Holy Spirit with the Gospel, we were dead in our sin. We had a worldly mind. We judged things by the measure of the world and the pleasures and passions around us. But when the Lord called us with the Gospel, he gave us a new heart, sent his Holy Spirit to dwell in us, and transferred us from dead in our sins to dead to our sins and alive to God. This Holy Spirit is our intercessor. He is our link. The Holy Spirit is active to search your heart and to speak your name in heaven when you don't know what to say. He is the link that plants the gifts of Jesus in you and nourishes and keeps it by bringing the Word and the Sacraments to you. Thanks be to God.
