God Gives the Growth
5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.

God Gives the Growth
Our hearts would go after the things of this world. We love the charismatic and energetic leader, we like the divisions we have created and the rivalries we live. However, our Lord Jesus would have us depend only on his Word. In the simplicity of his Gospel preached, faith is created, unity is granted, and divisions cease. So therefore, your preacher comes to you to give you the simple yet extraordinary Word of God. This Word is the very Word that will rescue you from every peril. This is the Word that grants growth in your heart. Your pastor is but an instrument. The real One saving you is Jesus. It is his Word. It is his Cross. It is his resurrection. He gives it all to you. He grants the growth, he grants growth to eternal life in him. He does all things well.
