Transformed by Grace

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Transformed by Grace

Once again, St. Paul reminds us of the transformative power of God's grace. He lists behaviors that are inconsistent with God's kingdom, unrighteousness, idolatry, adultery, theft, and more. Such practices are not aligned with the life of faith, and yet, Paul assures us that “such were some of you.” These sins were part of the past for the Corinthians, but they have been washed clean, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. As we reflect on this passage, we are called to remember that our identity is now in Christ. Through His redemptive work, we are cleansed and renewed. Let this truth encourage us to live out our new identity, embracing the righteousness that Christ has freely given, and to extend His grace to others who are still seeking the transformation He offers through His blood shed on the cross.
