As Good As Dead
11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

As Good as Dead
It's absurd. A man, 100 years old, becomes a father. Sarah, his wife, past the age of conceiving, gives birth to a son. Through this son many descendants were born. Indeed, even you! God keeps his Word. By the power of his promise, he makes you part of the family of Abraham. Abraham had many sons and you are one of them. You have been made a son by the blood of Jesus on the cross. You were dead in your sins and God has made you alive in your Baptism. You were not even counted, but then by Jesus' resurrection, you were made part of the multitude that cannot be numbered. Thanks be to God for his work in you.
