Against the Lord

22 And you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this, 23 but you have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And the vessels of his house have been brought in before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honored.

Against the Lord
Alleluia! Christ is Risen! It is the Lord that established Belshazzar in his father’s place. Belshazzar knew that God had established his father and had knocked him down in the midst of his pride and still Belshazzar worshipped other gods. We have heard and seen the great good news that our God has saved us. We have heard the Word of the Living God and yet we have chased after other gods and have sinned against our God. We have ignored his Word and have not loved our neighbor as we should. He calls you to repentance. We calls you with the very Word that made you his own. He sends his Son to rescue and make new. He won’t have you lost in your pride and chasing after other gods. Jesus offers up himself to cleanse and make new. Jesus dies on the cross for you and then rises again victorious. He calls you with that Gospel and creates faith in your by his Holy Spirit. The Lord has conquered your sin and your death. He lives and gives you that life forevermore. Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
