The Unshakable Kingdom

5 As I was considering, behold, a male goat came from the west across the face of the whole earth, without touching the ground. And the goat had a conspicuous horn between his eyes. 6 He came to the ram with the two horns, which I had seen standing on the bank of the canal, and he ran at him in his powerful wrath. 7 I saw him come close to the ram, and he was enraged against him and struck the ram and broke his two horns. And the ram had no power to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground and trampled on him. And there was no one who could rescue the ram from his power. 8 Then the goat became exceedingly great, but when he was strong, the great horn was broken, and instead of it there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven.

The Unshakable Kingdom
The vision of the ram and goat in Daniel 8 points to the rise and fall of mighty empires, Persia, Greece, and the proud horn broken in its strength. Earthly powers seem invincible, yet they all fall in due time. The vision reminds us that no kingdom of man endures forever. Pride, power, and might are shattered before the sovereign will of God. Yet amid these visions of turmoil stands the unshakable truth: God's kingdom is not of this world. At the cross, Christ conquered not with force but through weakness, dying for sinners, rising victorious over death. His is the kingdom that will never be broken. Though the horns of this world clash and crumble, Christ reigns. Take heart. Our hope is not in earthly strength, but in the Lamb who was slain and lives forever. His cross is our confidence, His victory our peace.
