Living Water
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Living Water
Every intent of the human heart is evil all the time (Genesis 6:5). We are dead in our trespasses and by nature rebel against our God. There is a thirst that is never quenched. The Holy Spirit changes hearts. The Holy Spirit gives you the spoils of Jesus’ victory. Your heart is removed, and a new heart is put in its place. This new heart is a temple to your God. This is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of your God rise up and overflow out of the heart. Truth dwells there. We are made alive in God and no longer thirst. Through Jesus’ crucifixion we live. Through Jesus’ resurrection, we are justified. The spoils of Jesus’ work for us are live and light for you and me. We have the Spirit of God. We have the gifts of the cross. We are children of God and out of our hearts flow rivers of living water.
