Making Himself Man

31 The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” 33 The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”
John 10:31-33

Making Himself Man
Jesus does not make himself God. He has always been God. He will always be God. He is the second person of the Holy Trinity. In his compassion and mercy, he takes up the humanity of Mary into the Godhead. The creator of heaven and earth becomes part of the creation and then does the works of his Father. He completes the Law and fulfills the Word of the Prophets of old. He lays down his life for the world, and he picks it up again. It is this work that will unravel the power of darkness and bring light and life to the world. This is not just a temporary thing. The Son of God takes on human flesh for all eternity to gain for himself you and me as brothers and sisters to all eternity. His greatest possession is you. You are his delight.
