We Wish to See Jesus
20 Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. 21 So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.

We Wish to See Jesus
Some Greeks came to Philip with a simple request: “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Their words echo the deepest longing of every heart, to see the Savior who reveals the Father’s mercy. Yet, to “see Jesus” is not to behold His miracles or earthly glory, but to behold Him lifted up on the cross. This request comes as Jesus prepares for His Passion. The time has come for His glory, not in power, but in suffering. To see Jesus rightly is to see the One who dies for sinners, whose outstretched arms draw all people to Himself. The cross is where His true beauty and glory shine. Like Philip and Andrew, we bring others to this Jesus, not to a moral teacher or political leader, but to the crucified and risen Lord who gives life through His Word and Sacraments.
