29 His disciples said, “Ah, now you are speaking plainly and not using figurative speech! 30 Now we know that you know all things and do not need anyone to question you; this is why we believe that you came from God.” 31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. 33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

He Has Overcome the World
The world will try to use the tribulations in your life to convince you that you have been abandoned by your God. The devil's lies and the doubt of your heart will attempt to cast you into unbelief, despair, and other great shame and vice. Indeed, the world will scatter and pillage and burn. The enemies of God will attack the undershepherds and scatter flocks. The enemies of God attack with violence. And while all this turmoil is going on, the Lord Jesus gives you the peace of his victory. You are not alone and you are not forsaken. While the world goes crazy, you have peace and joy. This Jesus has overcome the world by his victory on the cross. He has undone the attacks of the devil by crushing his head. You are alive forevermore by the power of Jesus' resurrection. Take heart; Jesus has overcome the world for you.
