Already Home
You have set Your glory above the heavens.
PSALM 8:1

Already Home
The Lord, our Ruler, has established and prepared a dominion and kingdom in which we are already in heaven according to the spirit, heart, and soul, even though according to the body we are scattered hither and yon among the lands. Paul speaks the same in Philippians 3:20-21: "Our commonwealth is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will change our lowly body to be like His glorious body, by the power which enables Him even to subject all things to Himself." Our citizenship or homeland, he says, is not here on earth, but in heaven; there we have our real existence and life. . .. There we are citizens and heirs of God, brothers and fellow heirs with Christ. Yes, we are already there with our hearts according to the spirit and faith; for we believe, as the children's Creed teaches us, "a holy Christian Church, resurrection of the body, and life everlasting." Therefore we have this firm hope and confidently expect that on the Last Day we shall arise and possess eternal life.
