Reconciled
And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Reconciled
Nothing hurts more than a broken relationship with the one you love. And nothing brings more joy than when that relationship is restored. We suffer from the brokenness of our relationship with Christ that we caused by our sins. And we cannot fix it, no matter how hard we try. The good news is that we don’t have to fix it, God has done that for us through the work of Christ on the cross. How can we sinners be sure that Christ’s work reconciles us to God? Paul says we have this assurance because of who Christ is: the image of the invisible God, the Creator, the one who is preeminent over all things. What else would you look to for assurance? To an angel? To yourself? No, look to God Himself in Christ. Through Jesus’ blood and merit, we are at peace with God. Nothing can deter our spirit, no matter how dark our path is. God is on our side, He has reconciled us to Him.
