By Grace
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8–9

We want to have something to boast about in ourselves. The human heart wants to pull itself up by its own bootstraps and be like God. That was the temptation laid before Adam and Eve. But, we cannot. Every attempt we fail miserably. We inherit sin, we do sin, we set ourselves against our God. That does not stop him from rescuing us. His nature is love. He creates you because he loves you. He rescues you because he loves you. There is nothing we can contribute to the saving part. It is totally and complete gift. We call that grace. It is all the Lord's doing. He shed his blood on the cross for your sins and rose again for your justification. Thanks be to God that he has showered you with his treasures and his love.
