Walking a New Path
Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.

Walking a New Path
We are creatures of habit. It can be extremely hard for us to change course when we have been doing something for a long while. We like to think that we always do the right thing, so it is hard for us to be corrected and admit that we need to change course. The gentiles of Paul’s day stubbornly resisted God’s testimony in nature and Word. The callousness of their hard hearts did not feel the accusations of conscience. Our Original sin creates the same situation in our hearts as well. This is why we can do nothing to contribute to our salvation or coming to faith. We are by nature, since the fall, blind to the ways of God. Therefore, Christ came into our world and did what we could never do. He lived a perfect life for us under the Law and paid the ransom for our souls. Thanks be to God that we have been given this free gift of faith to know Christ as our Savior and to place all our trust in His life, death, and resurrection on our behalf.
