Fulfill All Righteousness
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. 16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Fulfill All Righteousness
Jesus changes things. He who created all things by his Word becomes part of the creation. He who comes in the flesh of Mary is anointed for the work before him. This work is put into the water. He fulfills all righteousness so that you can be clothed in righteousness. Indeed, this is the Son of God, with him, the Father is well pleased. Apart from him, there is no life. Apart from him we are dead in our sins. However, in him is life. He wraps us in his righteousness and makes us members of him. We become children of God by his command and promise. He is our God and we are his people. Now, the Father is well pleased with you, too. You are clothed in Jesus.
