When You Pray
5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

When You Pray
Prayer is the language of faith. We pray because we believe that God is our true Father and that we are his true children. We do not act like the unbelievers who do not pray because of their faith. We do not pray like the hypocrites. Our prayers are an outpouring of our faith and our love for God. What he first put there, we speak back to him. Like a farmer who has sown a seed, so is the Word of God in the soil of our hearts. That seed has grown into a marvelous plant that has climbed up the cross of Jesus and grabbed ahold of our Savior. Your faith will not let him go. It cannot help but speak to him...not to be seen and to receive accolades by men, but to speak to our Father as true Children. This is a Baptismal relationship. You are adopted into a family and given all the rights and privileges of being the Son of God. You speak and he listens.
