What Does God Know?
Is not God high in the heavens? See the highest stars, how lofty they are! But you say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the deep darkness? Thick clouds veil him, so that he does not see, and he walks on the vault of heaven.’
Job 22:12–14

What Does God Know?
Eliphaz accuses Job of acting as if God could not see his misdeeds. He believes Job is unrepentant because he thinks God doesn’t know what has happened. Yet God knows all, sees all. There is nothing which escapes the notice of our heavenly Father. For some this is a frightening prospect. They live in a constant state of paranoia towards God, as if He was a prison warden looking for a reason to execute us. But although God does see all our sins and abhors them, it is not so He can make a list to eventually condemn us on judgement day. God see those sins and knows that the punishment for them has already been meted out by Him. On the cross at Calvary those sins were paid for. In the blood of His Son Jesus Christ, those sins were washed away and in faith we are made white as snow. What does God know? He knows His Son has died for us, He knows His Son defeated sin, death, and the devil for us. He knows that His forgiveness is given to us in His Sacraments. He knows that we are His.
