Called by Grace
1 Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes,
2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:1-3

Called by Grace
In these opening words from St. Paul, he begins with a profound reminder: we are called by God’s grace, not by our merit. As Paul himself was called to be an apostle by the will of God, so too are we called to be His saints through the same divine grace. This calling sets us apart, sanctifying us in Christ Jesus. It’s easy to lose sight of this in the midst of our daily struggles, but Paul’s greeting centers us on the truth that our identity and purpose are firmly rooted in Christ. The grace and peace he extends to the Corinthians is the same grace and peace that flows to us from our Heavenly Father. Let us daily rejoice in this calling, embracing our identity as God’s holy people, sustained by His abundant grace and peace in every circumstance.
