Night into Day
But you, come on again, all of you, and I shall not find a wise man among you. My days are past; my plans are broken off, the desires of my heart. They make night into day: ‘The light,’ they say, ‘is near to the darkness.’
Job 17:10-12

Night into Day
Advice is always in abundance, but sound advice is often a scarcity. Job laments that amongst his friends there is not to be found a wise man. They have continuously steered Job in the wrong direction, preferring him to focus on some unknown sin which must be at the root of all his woes. Yet Job does not follow the words of his friends, instead he continuously turns to God. He knows that God has an answer for him. Though he may not understand it nor like it he knows God is a just God. We would do well to remember this when we find ourselves in similar situations. We can follow the advice of the world, which leads us away from God and further into doubt and despair, or we can listen to God’s Word. Knowing that His “word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). The light of Christ does in fact make night into day. For we are told, “In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).
