Remembering with Joy

32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.
Heb 10:32–34

Remembering with Joy
Suffering for Christ is not in vain. The early Christians endured persecution, loss, and public shame, yet they did so with joy. Why? Because they knew their true treasure was in Christ. The world takes, but Christ gives, His own life for our redemption. The writer of Hebrews calls us to remember past endurance, not to dwell on pain but to see God’s faithfulness. He sustained the saints then, and He sustains us now. When we suffer for our faith, we share in Christ’s cross, bearing reproach as He did. Yet, just as He was victorious, so too are we in Him. The world may take possessions or status, but it cannot take Christ. In Him, we have a better and abiding possession, eternal life. So, we endure with joy, knowing that no suffering can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
