The Once-for-All Sacrifice

8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

The Once-for-All Sacrifice
The Old Testament sacrifices could never take away sin. They were shadows pointing forward to Christ, who came to do the Father’s will. Unlike the repeated sacrifices of the law, Christ’s offering of Himself on the cross was once for all. His perfect obedience fulfilled what the law demanded, and His death secured what no animal sacrifice ever could, our complete atonement. By this will of God, we are sanctified, set apart as holy, through Christ’s body offered on the cross. His sacrifice did not merely cover sin but removed it entirely. Now, we do not rely on our works or repeated offerings, but on Christ alone. Through faith in Him, we stand righteous before God. Lord, thank You for the perfect sacrifice of Christ. Keep us from trusting in ourselves and hold us fast in the salvation He has won.
