Our Perfect High Priest

26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. 28 For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.
Heb 7:26–28

Our Perfect High Priest
The priests of the Old Testament were sinners like the people they served, offering sacrifices repeatedly for their sins and the sins of others. Yet these sacrifices could never fully atone for sin. They pointed forward to a greater High Priest, Jesus Christ. Unlike the priests of old, Jesus is holy, innocent, unstained, and exalted above the heavens. He does not need to offer daily sacrifices. Instead, He offered Himself once and for all. On the cross, Jesus became the perfect sacrifice, bearing our sin in His body. His death satisfied God’s wrath and secured our salvation. Through His resurrection, Jesus now intercedes for us eternally as our High Priest. Take comfort in His completed work. The cross assures us that our sins are forgiven, and His eternal priesthood gives us confidence to approach God in prayer, knowing that Christ mediates for us always. Thanks be to God!
