In Every Respect

14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Hebrews 2:14–18

In Every Respect

When God chose to send forth his Son to redeem those who were under the law he sent him born of woman. This Savior of the World needed to be like us in every way. He need to have the flesh and blood that we have, but he also needed the temptations and suffering that we endure. He took it all upon himself. In every respect, he becomes like us, except that he did not sin. And in the battle, upon the cross, he makes propitiation for the whole world's sins. He stops the wrath of the Father against your sin. He wraps you in his righteousness and makes you his own. We should remember, too, that he helps you in your temptations. He is with you to the end of the age. He is the God that comes down to deliver.
