Words Without Knowledge

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
Job 38:1–3

Words Without Knowledge
“Be careful what you wish for.” Words Job may have been regretting not listening to at this point.  Job had previously argued and pleaded with God to have his day in court, and now that day was upon Him.  And the voice of God comes to him out of a whirlwind, yet it did not destroy Job as he had feared (9:17). Job finally has his opportunity to speak to God, as God begins to ask him questions. And as we will see, Job will not have an answer.  So often, it is with us. We believe ourselves innocent and shout it to the rooftops until the actual evidence is presented, and we become mute, silenced by the incontrovertible proof of our guilt. We are sinners and surely deserve nothing but God’s wrath, yet for the sake of His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, God responds in love and forgiveness. We speak words without knowledge when we try and justify ourselves before God, but thanks be to God that we do not have to justify ourselves. We don’t even have to come up with the words. God has done it all for us. In His Word, He gives us pardon through the blood of the Lamb. His Words of knowledge reveal the truth of who we are in relation to Him. His truth offers peace.
