The New World

When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him?
PSALM 8:3-4

The New World
David rejoices in spirit and waits with joyful heart for the future glory of the children of God and the renewal of the creatures, when heaven, moon, and stars will be prepared and made new by the finger of the Lord, our Ruler, that is, by the Holy Spirit. As though he were to say: "I hope for this and am sure that one day I shall come out of this vale of tears into another world, out of this night into brightness, out of this darkness into light, when the Lord, our Ruler, will reveal and manifest Himself with the works of His fingers, that is, the Holy Spirit. Then I shall see a new heaven, new moon, and new stars, and I myself shall be clothed in a new and beautiful body and adorned with new and sharp eyes." By this he teaches that in the world to come the life of the elect and saved will be in heaven and will be a heavenly being and life, where we shall no longer have to work, have toil or trouble, eat, drink, mourn, or be sorrowful, as we must in this world. We shall have an eternal Sabbath and holy day, be eternally satisfied in God, eternally joyful, safe, and free of all sorrow.
