Faith Looks Beyond the Present

20 By faith Isaac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau. 21 By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff. 22 By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones.

Faith Looks Beyond the Present
By faith, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph blessed their children, trusting in God’s promises even when they could not see their fulfillment. Isaac blessed Jacob, unaware of how God would work through him. Jacob, nearing death, worshiped and blessed Joseph’s sons, believing God’s covenant would endure. Joseph, in faith, spoke of Israel’s exodus, confident that God would lead His people home. Their faith was not in their own understanding but in God’s Word. They looked beyond present struggles to God’s faithfulness. Likewise, we trust in Christ’s cross, even when life’s trials seem overwhelming. Just as God kept His promises to the patriarchs, He has fulfilled His greatest promise in Jesus, who died and rose for us. Even now, we live by faith, knowing that in Christ, we have a future far greater than what we see.
