Joyful Obedience in Christ

17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Heb 13:17

Joyful Obedience in Christ
God has established leaders in His Church to shepherd His flock with His Word. Pastors are called to preach the Gospel, administer the Sacraments, and care for souls. They do this as those who must give an account, not to men, but to God Himself. The task is weighty, but it is also a joy when the people of God receive the Word with faith and trust in Christ. Obedience to faithful pastors is not blind allegiance but joyful submission to the Word they proclaim. This is not the obedience of the Law but of the Gospel, for it flows from faith in Christ, who Himself submitted to the cross for our salvation. When we receive the Word with humility, Christ strengthens us, and His Church is built up in peace. Pray for your pastor, that he may serve with joy, and trust in Christ, who shepherds us all.
